Composite Restorations

In order to treat a cavity, one of our Waterbury CT dentists will remove the decayed portion of tooth and fill it with a composite material. Composite fillings are used for their great durability and the fact that they can closely match the color and texture of your natural teeth. They also allow for less of the tooth to be removed compared to other filling materials, and are well suited for highly visible or any other tooth because of their natural appearance.

When can a composite filling be used for?

  • Decayed tooth (i.e. cavity)
  • Broken or Chipped teeth
  • Decreasing the gap between teeth

How it's done:

Following your dentist numbing the area which the filling will be placed, he will remove any decayed portions of the tooth. A special substance will then be applied to the tooth to help open up the pores and to help create a stronger bond with the filling. Once complete, the filling will be applied in thin layers are hardened in-between with a special UV light. After placement is complete, the filling will be smoothened and polished to ensure a natural and comfortable bite.
