The process of dental bonding is a restorative one in which natural tooth-colored resin is bonded to a tooth and then cured with an ultraviolet light. Bonding is a less expensive and quicker procedure than veneers or crowns, and thus is great for small cosmetic improvements to the teeth. Bonding can typically be completed in only one visit to our office, and requires less removal of the tooth compared to other appliances or procedures. However, bonding usually doesn't last as long as other forms of restoration- and is less resistant to stains- so is best for touch ups compared to major cosmetic work.
How it's done
Bonding will typically take between 30 and 60 minutes to complete per tooth. First, your Waterbury cosmetic dentist will determine the exact shade of your teeth to make sure the resin matches. The tooth surface will then be roughened and a liquid conditioner will be applied, so that the resin adheres easier. Your doctor will then apply the resin and cure it with an ultraviolet light. Lastly, the resin will be shaped and polished for a phenomenal fit.
